Go to your media tab and select a text media and see if you can just drag one up to the timeline.
What version of Vegas are you using?

I’ve tried leaving it check and unchecking it. ugh!
Never got this before I installed V8pro. Didn’t get it when I first installed V7 with V5 still installed.

Well, I keep clicking Yes, for V7 and no for 8. The screen still comes up every time I open 7. Haven’t opened 8 for a while.Hmmmmm

I don’t ever remember this “nag” screen when I went from 3-4-5-7. Just after I install 8 pro and left 7 installed.

As Mike said above regarding extra hard drives. My 2 extra internals are SATA 250gB each. 1 of those is strictly for my captures and files I’m currently working on.
My 2 external drives, 1 Seagate 750gB USB2/1394 Firewire, using the firewire connection, and a WD My-Book 300gB same USB/firewire using the Firewire connection. I use these for storing finished vid’s I need to keep or those on hold waiting for more work.
Ha! You can never have too much hard drive space! 😉 I’m not sure but some or all of your problems may just disappear once you get your video files on another disk.

This is just a thought because I haven’t worked with any video from a camcorder that does those miniDVD’s but have you tried playing them back in a DVD player and capturing them using an analog/digital converter. That way you’d have a fresh DV-AVI file to work with.
All my cameras have the composit out connections and I also have the Canopus (Grass Valley) ADVC100 (now 110) converter box. RCA in, Firewire out. Reversed if I’m using my NTSC monitor, firewire in and RCA out to my monitor. Dual purpose.
If you can do that, and replace the video on the timeline with the capture, maybe you can save all your editing. maybe! I’ve tried importing from DVD’s but it just doesn’t give me much to work with.

You really don’t ever want to put video files on your C drive. That’s your system drive.
I got all my software installed on my C drive, maybe a few photos, but I have 3 internal hard drive’s a well as 2 external. My external hard drives (firewire connection) are for storing my unused or finished video files. I don’t even like editing files from an external HD.
One of my other internal drives have my video folders. Putting video files on your system drive can be causing your problems.
Also you mentioned VOD files. Don’t you mean VOB?
