Hi there and Happy Christmas! I though I could create a little christmas video but I have this problem – When I try to insert a text media into the video track, a window pops up and it says that error occurred and that the COM object failed to initialize. I really would welcome any help. Thanks

Text media goes on the track above your video. Not on the same track.

If your video clip is on track 1, insert a new video track and put the title on that one.

Well, when I try tu put text in a video track ABOVE another video track, in which I have the video, it does the same…

    Was this a Heroglyph title?
If so, try re-installing the program.

How do I find that out, if it was Heroglyph title? I mean, all I do is creat empty video track above the video track with my vid, right-click that empty track and choose insert text media…perhaps there is another way to do that.

Go to your media tab and select a text media and see if you can just drag one up to the timeline.

What version of Vegas are you using?

I’m using version 8.0, when I went into media generators and inserted Centered to my timeline (there’s no track) I had no problem but so far I have no idea how to work with the text.

Vegas Movie Studio 8 or Vegas Pro 8?
Either way, the manual is generally a good place to start.
There’s also Edward Troxel’s free newsletters.
Vol. 2 Issue #1 deals with the basics of the Text tool.
