Great tutorials and Spot’s link is worth it’s weight in gold. Fantastic information for me.

Now I got something to work with. I think my main problem was that ‘cheap’ plastic green screen with the uneven lighting (glare on 1 side) and the creases from being folded, but it gave me something to ‘get-my-feet-wet’ without spending a lot of money. Ha! only $15 on eBay.

Now I got to decide what to buy. Spot sez Muslim’s hard to key but I’m also reading that Muslim seems to be a popular choice, The only other thing then is those paper rolls. I’m going to price both. A paper roll wouldn’t be too bad as I’m not planning to green screen outside in the field anyway.

I’m not planig to go big-time green screening anyway. It’s just a once-in-a-while thing at this point.

Hi Spot
Wow, thanks a lot. You just saved me some possibly wasted money. So no plastic, which I found out, and Muslim not recommended. What’s a good recommendation for something that will be somewhat portable then? Paper rolls? I think my local camera shop has rolls of background paper but we did’t check to see if he had any green. But I’d have to be careful not to crease the paper.

Could you expand in this statement a bit plesase? I’m quite new to green screening. Right now since we can’t buy Ultra2 anymore, I was thinking of trying one of the virtual sets from Zkad, virtualsetworks or iPhotovideo.

I found that tutorial over at Digitalproducer.digital medianew full of ads and stuff. This is a clean copy so I printed it out.

Now that I remember, I did see that one before but forgot where.

This was my first green screen attempt and I used a plastic green sreen I got off ebay really cheap. It would have worked okay except my lighting was horrible and I didn’t realize how bad it was until I got it into the computer.

It’s just a test 2 minute shot though so nothing wasted. I just couldn’t mask out the screen totally. I got a line on a reasonable priced muslim green screen.

I dont have After Effects or I would have brought the video there and re-colored the screen to even off the green ha ha

I don’t suppose I can do anything with that green screen in Vegas 8 without messing up the subject, can I?

I have no idea. Whatever the standard set-up is, is what I got. I never e-programmed Shuttle Pro for Vegas.

I have a diagram hanging on my wall showing what the settings were for Vegas 4 and I’m sure they’re the same. I think there was a diagram in the Vegas, or Shuttle Pro directory. I know the control panel should show you what’s set for what program. There’s a big diagram in the control panel when you open it.

Shouldn’t be unless you imported more than the one you needed. You can probably just delete the one you don’t need but for “safety” sake, I’d just leave tem for now until you get used to it.

It’s easy to use. Open the control panel, choose Vegas 8 and the tags for the buttons will show up. You can print them out so you know what button does what. That’s what I did at first but now I know them all.

The shuttle pro (don’t know about yours) will workwith almost any application. I eenprogrammed mine to work with Paint Shop Pro. I got some email from them explaining how to do it. I went back and sure enough I still have those emails from 2003. HA!

I copied some of the important stuff here. If it doesn’t help then I suggest you have Wavosaur people contact contourdesign.com. They’re very helpfull.

Hi Ken
I’m not fimalier with the express but things should work same as the pro. Meaning all the settings are already in the express prefs. Unless you used the ‘pro’ pref. There are 3 different prefs. Pro, V2 and Xpress perf’s. If you loaded the right one for your shuttle, (express) it should work. Look in the Contour control panel and you should see the assignment for the butons already there. Unless you wanted to chang any which you can also do.

Well it was a stupid move by me. In all the excitement of setting everything up and using it the first time. I got my answer from a friend.

After I did my audio text and zeroed the meter, I should have backed the master pot on the mixer down a notch.

Also by plugging the audio cable into the front camer connection, since that’s has +48v always on that may have contributed as I also had the phantom power on in the mixer.

I’ve since gotten an XLR splitter, so now coming out of the mixer with only 1 cable to the wye and into the camera rear Channel 1 and 2.
