Hi Ed
I tried and it still doesn’t work. I tried importing the files from Shuttle Pro console nd I tried manually copying the files over. the icon in the sys tray sez vegas 8 has the focus but the shuttle doesn’t work.

I’m at my wits end here. Don’t know what else to do. I also haven’t upgraded drivers on that thing for years.

But it does still work on V7

Hello Ty

Not the on-board mic because it wasn’t plugged it. I ran Channel 1 cable from the mixer to the front mic in on the camera and had both switches set to front/line in. Goofed up on the DVD recorder and I’m wondering if tht may have cause the entire audio problem. Here’s the set-up I did.

Lavs to Mixer. Out from miser XLR to camera front connection. Firewire out from camera to laptop and DV-Rack. RCA out of camera to what was supposed to be DVD recorder in but after it was all over I noticed the analog was plugged into the output of the dvd recorder. ugh! S*%t. I noticed the audio levels in DV-Rack were too hi but stupid me didn’t do anything about it. Anyway I could’t find my 1/4″ audio to mini 1/8 adapter so I couldn’t plug the headset into the camera or the laptop. My fault again.

I’m going to get the tape out of the camera today and see what was actually recorded to the DVcam tape. I should have been monitoring the out from the Laptop and/or the the DVD recorder which is a panasonic ES25.

Is there any way to fix that audio track or should I not even try. I played around with the NR and other FX in SoundForge but not knowing the program that well, I ws aloe to reduce some of the noise but couldn’t bring the voice to any semblence of normal.

Gary Kleiner just released “The Vegas Pro 8 Companion” A set of about 8 or 9 DVD’s that’s just excellent. I bought his training DVD’s for Vegas 5 and that’s how I learned.

I’d definately look into his DVD’s. He’s around this forum or his website is at;

Normally Windows Live is on most of the time. AIM only sometimes. I’m there with Ty Ford from the audio forum. He’s trying to get a video confrencing going for audio classes.

Actually this is for legal Deposition video. I recently got my certification for CLVS (certified legal video specialist) and got the DSR250 mainly for legal shooting. Prior to this I was using my VS2000 but not for legal work. I had the Sign Video XLR adapter and knew how to work that but the 250 is Pro and works a little different.

I think I understand. If I run just 1 XLR from the mixer, do it to the front input and disconnect the on-camera mic.

I’m thinking I got to look at the mixer which is upstairs right now and I can just run both cables. I don’t have anything else I want to plug into channel 2 in the back anyway. Mixer is a Shure M367 and I got the lavs, PZM and table mic plugged into it.

Okay thanks. I thought of track motion / pan-crop but I also thought in Vegas 8 there was another way to do it.

Okay on the audio. DSR-250 and it’s still new to me so I’m reading the manual about Mono Audio. Yes, usually it’s the left/mono. But the XLR inputs read Channel 1 and 2 not left/right. So it’s only coming out of 2 of my speakers and not the 4. (left side only. True mono I thought was both channels mixed.

Why not do it right when you shoot?

Also ArcSoft has/had a stabilizing software that didn’t work too bad.

Thanks Mike but I already own the Neat Video. Problem was it was an automatic process done without the computer. In my monitor connected to the DVD recorder, the picture looked perfect. It also looks quite good on my 23″ Panasonic.

I can capture a few minutes into Vegas and see what it looks like there, if it even needs noise removal.

I did a video for a friend that did have a lot of noise in it visable. Exactly like one of the photos at Neat Video’s web site. So I used Neat Video to process the noise out. Nice video but it was taking 3 days to render and still wasn’t finished. I couldn’t tie up my etiding machine for a week or more to render a video HA HA and it’s a 3xgHz machine with 2GB ram. huh!
