Sorry for making a new post but I wanted the subject line to show I got the instructions for installing Shuttle Pro in Vegas 8 pro here.

Also their web site will be back up shortly.

To get Shuttle Pro to work with Vegas 8 Pro you have to actually create a new file.
    1. open Contour control paner.
    2. In the drop down list, select Sony Vegas 7.
    3. Under Options, check “Create New Contour setting
    4. Choose copy from current setting
    5. Then locate the vegs 8 folder and find the vegas8.exe
file and double click on it.
    6. Click Apply. Then check to see if there’s a perf file
for Vegas 8 next to the EXE file on the drop down list.
    7. If no perf and only the exe files is there, then select
the exe file and rename it to Vegas 8.

Mine now works. I don’t know yet but you may have to do the same for DVDA4.5.

Also that new driver 2.6.17.exe, the only thing that’s a big change is that it’s Vista compatible. Matt said if you don’t have vista, you really don’t need to DL that file.
    Hope this helps

    Allen,
I have just received a Shuttle Express and need a bit of your expertise in setting it up.
I installed as per Contour instructions for XP. I then used your instructions for Vegas 8 configuration. Shuttle is running as I see a icon that shows where focus is and it has the name I gave the config.

But, now, I don’t have a clue on how to set up the keys. The Express only has 5 keys.

So, I have Buttons 1 thru 5 and the jog wheel.
Can you give me a clue on how to do this?
As a Vegas newbie making the jump to a Contour product is probably dumb but I got a deal on it. I love new toys!
    I appreciate your patience.

    Hi Ken
I’m not fimalier with the express but things should work same as the pro. Meaning all the settings are already in the express prefs. Unless you used the ‘pro’ pref. There are 3 different prefs. Pro, V2 and Xpress perf’s. If you loaded the right one for your shuttle, (express) it should work. Look in the Contour control panel and you should see the assignment for the butons already there. Unless you wanted to chang any which you can also do.

    Hope this helps

I think you just toggled my brain. I just looked at the pref folder. I was making this too hard. I never linked the pref to the app. DUH! My whole day has been like that!
BTW: have you ever heard of an audio editor named Wavosaur? (wavosaur.com) It’s open source and seems fully packed. I sent them an email on Contour Shuttle and they want to make it work with their editor.

    Got it!
There is another Sony app choice “Sony Vegas 8” that is now activated with the Shuttle Express.
So, now, the icon shows Primary and then 3 different choices with only on of them “Sony Vegas 8” with a pref set. How do I delete the other two?
I can leave them but that’s messy.

Item next learn how to use this device.

    hehehehehe been-there-done-that 😉

The shuttle pro (don’t know about yours) will workwith almost any application. I eenprogrammed mine to work with Paint Shop Pro. I got some email from them explaining how to do it. I went back and sure enough I still have those emails from 2003. HA!

I copied some of the important stuff here. If it doesn’t help then I suggest you have Wavosaur people contact contourdesign.com. They’re very helpfull.

    >To program a mouse click you need to choose “Mouse Click” >for the “Computer Response” menu.
    >
    >Mouse clicks sent from the ShuttlePRO will perform the >programmed click at the current cursor position.

    >If there is a shortcut for the zoom tool, you can program a >button on the ShuttlePRO to it. You can then program the >bottom right buttons to either right-click (Zoom-in) or Left >Click (Zoom-out). If there is no shortcut for the Zoom tool, >there is no way.

Shouldn’t be unless you imported more than the one you needed. You can probably just delete the one you don’t need but for “safety” sake, I’d just leave tem for now until you get used to it.

It’s easy to use. Open the control panel, choose Vegas 8 and the tags for the buttons will show up. You can print them out so you know what button does what. That’s what I did at first but now I know them all.

I’m starting to “get it”. I would think the Wavosaur guys could have it working in under an hour.
I’m very impressed with how nice it lets one scrub through frames.
    Thanks,

    Allen,
Sorry to bother you but could you tell me what actions you have your main 5 buttons set to on your Shuttle?
I’m all set on the shuttle wheel.
I have buttons 1 thru 5 to set up.
    Thanks,

    This just in:
As I try to use the Trimmer for all edits,
does it make sense for me to program buttons 2-3-4 for the Trimmer? I would want I (In) O (out) A (add)
Does the keystroke need a spacial character.
And, it feels like a Monday, again!

I have no idea. Whatever the standard set-up is, is what I got. I never e-programmed Shuttle Pro for Vegas.

I have a diagram hanging on my wall showing what the settings were for Vegas 4 and I’m sure they’re the same. I think there was a diagram in the Vegas, or Shuttle Pro directory. I know the control panel should show you what’s set for what program. There’s a big diagram in the control panel when you open it.
