Does anybody out there use Trend Micro AntiVirus software? I am currently using Vegas 5 and Norton Antivirus. I am considering switching to Trend Micro. I keep hearing how Norton is a resource hog and have heard that Trend is much better. Any problems with Vegas and Trend?

I’ve been using Trend Micro’s PC-Cillin for the past 3 years and have not had any problems whatsoever.
Be advised that it’s a PITA to get Norton completely off your system.

I was afraid that Norton “uninstall” would be a problem. Any suggestions?

You don’t say what version you have but Norton has removal instructions for all versions on their site.
However, a Google search using “uninstall norton antivirus” (without the quotes) turned up several sites that say that you’ll still need to do some registry editing to completely remove all traces of it.
Here’s one site that seemed pretty comprehensive.
Maybe someone else here has other ideas.
    Good luck with it.

I have also been using Trend Micro for the past year with no apparent problems. I just disable my internet connection and shut off Trend Micro whenever I am using Vegas(7).

Thanks for the reply. In 40 days my subscription to Norton runs out. Looks like I will be uninstalling Norton and adding Trend Micro.

    Hi Guys,

I get this site that gives you free AVG Anti Virus download. I have it on my older PC and it works fine. Check it out and let me know what you think.

I personally prefer AVG’s Internet Security suite. I don’t have to shut it down when working with Vegas.

I used to use their free Anti Virus but when they changed everything around and came out with the complete suites I decided to pay for it. It’s the only software firewall I haven’t had problems with and doesn’t conflict with anything else I have which most other’s did and I’ve tried 3 or 4 software firewalls including Zone Alarm. You start mixing and matching security software and you’re bound to have conflicts. All I have now is AVG and Spybot. No more conflicts!

My video editing machine doesn’t go on the internet anyway except to update software. I have a slower, ‘junk’ machine for the internet.

Yes, it’s a bear removing Norton but I’d get it out as soon as possible and make sure you got it all. You’ll have to manually remove some stuff and before you do anything in the registry, back it up. The posts above tell you what to do.
