Welcome to the forum. Your settings look okay to me. You can just use the defaults.I would like to make a suggestion though that you change your prerendered files folder. Do you have at least 2 hard drives? You shouldn’t store ytour captured files nor should you have your prerendered files folder on your C drive. You’re possibly asking for problems down the road if you do.
Actually your English is pretty good so don’t worry.
Now you have many choices for rendering. The best quality video to keep on your hard drive would be an AVI file, but those are rather big files so unless you have a lot of hard drive space (AVI is 13gB per hour of video) I’d choose maybe WMV files. But you’re stuck with computer only to watch your videos.
However what if you want to burn your videos on DVD’s? Then you’d need to render to MPEG-2. If you bought Vegas 8 Pro it came also with DVD Architect for authoring DVD’s. Then you want to choose the Main Concept MPEG-2 and in the template choose DVDA Mpeg stream. Render your video only to that, then render your audio to AC3. Make sure you have both files in the same folder and with the same name.

Wanna talk strange? I had an entire clip replaced on me once! Oh yea! Wierd! Lucky thing was it was the first clip in a rather large project so it wasn’t too big of a problem to put the right clip back, but I’m still scratching my head over that one. And I had just printed the project to tape so I know I didn’t do it.
Okay back to your problem. Look up at the tool bar. Does your ripple happen to be on? If it’s on and you happen to move something, depending on how it’s set, everything after it will move on you.

If you get TU discs make sure you get the higher quality ones. I usually purchase mine from Disc Makers.
http://www.discmakers.comAlso I’d say again to try -R’s. You’ll have less problems with them playing on other’s set top players.
On my personal side, I’ve always used -R’s. One time I tried +R’s and got a bunch of coasters. Also I have DVD’s in the marketplace and I never had a -R returned by a customer but 3 of the +R’s were returned as reported they wouldn’t play. I immediately replaced them with -R’s and the customer was happy.
On the personal side with Nero. I never like it although many swear by it. I had a lot of problems with the older versions back in W2K days and never went back to them. Personally I use NTI’s software.

but never to burn discs I created in Vegas. Basically only to create certain audio discs and to copy discs. Authored DVD’s always went to DVDA or I do have DVD Lab Pro I like to use for certain projects.

It sort of sound to me like maybe it’s your media. What media are you using to burn your movies on? I’m refering to both the brand (quality) and the type -R or +R’s.
For the best playback on the most players, you should be using -R’s and a high quality disc, not a generic “discount store” disc.
Try a different brand of disc. Your burner should have a list of media it supports in the documentation.
Also at what bit rates are you rendering your video?

First I’d chack the Jpegs for a corrupted one. Vegas actually pefers PNG files. If I’m doing a Ken Burns effect (pan/crop motion) I’ll set the size at 1440 x 960.
Sounds to me like you may have a bad JPG file in there.

Before you re-install, try defragging your computer. First clean up all your HD’s. Right click on the start menu – select Explore – highlight your drives, one at a time. Right click on a drive letter and select Disc Cleanup. Let it do it’s thing and do the same for all your HD’s. Then defrag.I used to have this problem back in Vegas 5. I’d defrag and go back to the project and was able to render of PTT as the case would be.
Just a thought.

Can you try to manually capture using the analog connections? You’ll need a analog-digital converter.
My Brother has a digital 8 and I’s sorry but I don’t remember if I was able to capture via the firewire or had to use analog.

Go to the tool bar and click on “Auto-ripple”. That’s the icon with 2 boxes and a little arrow. Or CTRL+L. On the down arrow click it and select all tracks, markers and regions.
Then when you insert something, everything to the right will slide to the right together allowing you to do this automatically. Just be sure you don’t forget to turn it off when you’re done so you don’t accidently move everything again if you insert say a text box or something. There’s also 2 more choices on that auto-ripple depending on what you want to have moved.
For more info, go to help – search, and type in Insert. Scroll down to where it says insert time. That’ll explain it and show you what the icon looks like.
