I am currently editing a feature. I have broken it in smaller sections to avoid crashes. In a few weeks I have to put it all together and render the whole 2 hours. I have tried to render a rough cut several times and vegas gives an error before quitting the render. Also my computer comes to a hault. Very slow & out of memory. Also when I close down vegas and try to reboot I get program not responding errors coming up and have to hit end now. Even though the program was already closed. So my question is when is 8c going to be released?

    Listen Wade,
Dont just wait thinking that version 8.0c is going to resolve all
the problems you are having with vegas. Try solving it from now.
Are you runnung it on Vista?

Probably you have something on your system causing conflicts with
vegas and causing memory leaks. Have you tried uninstalling..clean
    up and re-installing vegas already?

I think Vegas 8.0c and DVD Architect 5 (with Blue-Ray support)
will be coming out sometime this month.

i’m running XP Pro.. I do not want to do a clean install in the middle of a huge project like a movie. I also hav plenty of hard drive space. I will try a new render tonight and see what happens and note the specific errrors. Any idea how to save all my Vegas presets?

No, No…I just meant uninstalling and reinstalling just vegas…then
meant cleaning, by just cleaning up old unwanted and hidden files and especially the registry.
Sometimes its the simplest of things that causes such errors.

At 71% rendering done 2 hours (dvda preset 24p) i got a crash with the following error(see below). In task manager the minute it crashed vegas is unresponsive and the memory rapidly goes up starting at 128 mb to over 600 and finally went away.. Is there a 8c beta anywhere?

    AppName: vegas80.exe AppVer: 8.0.0.217 AppStamp:47852d9a

    Sorry no beta,
Why not try reinstalling version 8.0a then. Did you
had any worries using version 8.0 or 8.0a before ?

    Hi
Before you re-install, try defragging your computer. First clean up all your HD’s. Right click on the start menu – select Explore – highlight your drives, one at a time. Right click on a drive letter and select Disc Cleanup. Let it do it’s thing and do the same for all your HD’s. Then defrag.

I used to have this problem back in Vegas 5. I’d defrag and go back to the project and was able to render of PTT as the case would be.

    Just a thought.

I had the Vegas 8 crash happening at 68% with rising memory useage during an HD render test I built and was using for a new quad core. It was not really Vegas that caused the issue, it was a 2ed party codec within Quicktime that was to blame. I converted two of four HD MOV files to Cineform AVIs and Viola fast clean and COMPLETE render & print!!

FYI: I regularly render 3 hour plus school board meetings and other LONG form projects as one project (some include nested projects to boot) without issue.
