Currently I use AVG’s internet security suite. I have a 3 pack workstation license so it’s installed on my 2 desktops as well as on my laptop.

Personally I think with your configuration that Zone Alarm is yur problem. Also I’d be leary of Kerio firewall with AVG. Laszlo says above he uses Nod32 from Eset Software with Kerio. That probably works great. But be advised some software will conflict with other software so you got to be careful what you try with what.

I had conflict problems with Kerio and AVG free as well as other conflict problems with some of Sunbelt’s other software combined with what I had at the time. Then AVG came out with the suites and I dumped them all for that one. Never had a problem or a conflict. AVG works sliently in the background and believe it or not has never affected Vegas. Even during a render.

Other software I use is Spybot Search and Destroy (free) and PC Tools Registry cleaner although I don’t use it much.

Also mentioned above is never go on the internet as an administrator and the free program you’ll want for this is from Amust Software called 1-defender. It’s also free. It brings up your browser as a user and not as an administrator. You do have a choice on the start screen to open the browser as administrator if you know your going to install or upgrade something but that’s the only time I go on unprotected. For example if you’re going to update Windows from Microsoft you’ll need to go on as administrator because 1-defender will prevent anyone from anyplace to install anything anywhere on your computer which protects you quite a bit.

No you installed it right. What you didn’t do was go into your options and preferences to set your various folder locations. The default folder is the Ny Documents folder so you have to change that.

My Vegas is installed on C drive. I have 2 other internal HD’s plus 2 external. The externals are for storage of videos I’m done with but need to keep.

So let’s say my capture drive is F. Under options – preferences is where you set your choice of drives and folders for storing and rendering your videos. I have a Temp folder, a Capture folder, capture folder is set in the capture utility under options prefs. Also I have a seperate render folder.

You can set it up the way you want but keep those file folders OFF your C drive.

Wow John! Thanks so much.

I’ve got a situation similar to Mary’s, possibly getting a new MAC Book Pro and using Boot Camp/XP so I can use my Vegas. I was wondering the very same thing. needing one drive accessable to both MAC and XP so I don’t have to duplicate every video and photo file.

I believe I had a situation like this a while ago.

The answer I got, if I remember correctly, was I’d have to paint it out in each frame using something like After Effects. Wasn’t worth the time it would take to use a clone brush on each and every frame.

Well, if it’s not like my sample above, I don’t quite understand what you’re trying to do then.

Have you tried rendering to AVI or WMV and does the text shift as well? Do you have keyframes in there somewhere that’s causing movememt?

I’ve only used 1 setting for QT ever in Vegas and don’t use QT very much at all.

Maybe someone else can jump in here and help you.

Nope, the MPG won’t play as seperate audio/video streams in WMP. You’ll get the video without the audio or vice versa. If you went with a different template where the audio/video is together, then it possibly would play. Or go MPEG-1 VCD.

You can, however play DVD’s in WMP. So my suggestion is render a WMV file to immediately be able to see your video, then also make a DVD and watch it on your TV.

After rendering to MPEG-2 then you have to go back and render again, this time using the AC3 audio. There is NO audio in that MPEG stream.

Make sure both files have the same name, ie: test.mpg / test.ac3. Keep them in the same folder. When you drag the MPG file into DVDA, the AC3 file will automatically follow and give you the audio portion.

Those sfl and sfx files are for vegas to remember your settings. I wouldn’t delete them until you’re all finished with the project. They’re small files anyway and won’t affect you but if you delete them and than have to open Vegas to do more work on your project, some of your settings will be gone.

I’m still at a loss as to why the AVI didn’t play.

Are you saying you’re trying to do a strike through with the line going through the word?

You say a screen capture though. Can you explain more? In some programs you do have the strike-out option as part of the text settings.

You have the correct one highlighted or the one below (widescreen).

However I am not working with HD/HDV so someone else here will have to help you on that. As of now I’m only working with SD.

I believe DVDA4.5 is the latest version. Maybe an (a) or (b) is out but you can check that yourself.

As to why the AVI didn’t play I don’t know. When you double click the AVI / WMV file it should have played in Windows Media Player.

Hopefully another forum member will jump into this thread and offer some help as well.

What about your hard drives on your computer? How many do you have? You should have at least 2 internal, the 2nd one for your video files.
