Text Shifts When Rendered
Posted by Joni Lambert on June 12, 2008 at 11:47 pmHi. When I add a text overlay into a project and place it in a specific spot, I’ve been finding that it moves in the rendered version. Any tips?
Thanks!

June 14, 2008 at 2:42 amWanna talk strange? I had an entire clip replaced on me once! Oh yea! Wierd! Lucky thing was it was the first clip in a rather large project so it wasn’t too big of a problem to put the right clip back, but I’m still scratching my head over that one. And I had just printed the project to tape so I know I didn’t do it.
Okay back to your problem. Look up at the tool bar. Does your ripple happen to be on? If it’s on and you happen to move something, depending on how it’s set, everything after it will move on you.
You are talking about the entire text box aren’t you? 😉

June 14, 2008 at 8:36 pmHere’s an example. I want to cover the word “trial” in the title bar when doing a screen capture for a training program, so I use a text box containing a large bold line _____ and move it so it covers it. But when I render the program, that text box moves, so it no longer covers the word “trial”.

June 15, 2008 at 2:17 pmAre you saying you’re trying to do a strike through with the line going through the word?

You say a screen capture though. Can you explain more? In some programs you do have the strike-out option as part of the text settings.

June 15, 2008 at 8:31 pmSorry. I’m not communicating this very well. The bottom line is that text tracks are shifting in the final program.
I place the text in place X in Vegas and after I render the program and view it in QuickTime it’s shifted into location Y.
Thanks!

June 15, 2008 at 10:29 pmWell, if it’s not like my sample above, I don’t quite understand what you’re trying to do then.
Have you tried rendering to AVI or WMV and does the text shift as well? Do you have keyframes in there somewhere that’s causing movememt?
I’ve only used 1 setting for QT ever in Vegas and don’t use QT very much at all.
Maybe someone else can jump in here and help you.
