You just need to set the alpha differently in Vegas than other NLE’s.

For DVD tutorials I suggest Vasst. They have a good set of tutorials on DVD and if you look ar9und their site you’ll possibly find DVD’s for Vegas 6. However we’re past 6 now up to Version 8 pro.

Also there’s Ed Troxel’s “Vegas Tips & Tricks newsletters availabloe for free that goes all the way back to Vegas 4 or 5 I believe. You can ownlod those in PDF format and they’re extremely helpful.

what size and resolution did you scan them at? They’re probably way too big. If you’re going to do track motion or pan/crop ala Ken Burns you should size them to 1440 x 960, 72 to 150 dpi resolution.

Also Jpeg will work, but personally I think you’ll have less problems using PNG files. Vegas likes those for some reason.

That’s what Ive been doing for the most part is copy/paste. Some I can’t/don’t want to re-create though as I have them pre-made and in another veg file I just copy over. That’s because there’s a pair of generated media. 1 text box and 1 graphic pan/crop, like an arrow. Another I use hundreds of is a little number inside a little black box. To have to re-size that black box is a pain

Oh well, maybe DSE knows. Problem is sometimes I forget to change the frame size. ugh!

Hi John

Not sure I understand what you’re saying but, if you select (highlight) a clip and hit the ‘S’ key the event will split. The split part to the right will be highlighted. Then if you’re cutting a part out of the middle, you move your curser to the right and split again. Doing it this way, you’d have to re-click the split part to highlight it. Splitting the end of your cut first then going back to the left and splitting the left side leaves the cut clip highlighter and ready to delete.

You shoud probably turn on your Auto Ripple (Ctrl+L) and in the drop down box select the type of Auto Ripple so when you delete the clip everything moves to the left to close the gap.

Wow! I’ll look into this Acronis TrueImage for my editing machine. However on my internet/junk computer I use Carbonite which is an online backup and secure storage. That’s $50 a year. And it works silently in the background also. the minute I change a file or add a file, it’s backed up immediately.

I have been just using the XP backup on the editing computer.
