Activity Forums VEGAS Pro jpeg size

    I put a jpeg on the timline straight from the scanner and it is crashing vegas. Do I have to resize all jpegs and what program do I use to do so. I am making a slideshow for 50th birthday.

    Hi
    what size and resolution did you scan them at? They’re probably way too big. If you’re going to do track motion or pan/crop ala Ken Burns you should size them to 1440 x 960, 72 to 150 dpi resolution.

    Also Jpeg will work, but personally I think you’ll have less problems using PNG files. Vegas likes those for some reason.

    Hi,

    If you don’t want to zoom in (pan/crop) resize the pictures to a size of that Allen said.
    Otherwise, keep in mind, that when you resize it to too small and you plan to zoom it in, the pictures may get blurry, pixelated. The 1440*960 will be OK for an SD video, if you do your work for HD, you may want a higher resolution.

    For doing the resize you can use any image-manipulation program, GIMP, Photoshop, ACDSee, etc. But I bet you got something bundled with your scanner. I’ve never seen a scanner sold without a photo-manipulation software, that will surely do the trick.
