  • Vegas Pro 8.0 takes 30 seconds to “load” after switching back from another application

This is recent happening…when I’m editing and I switch to a folder to drag an image or something into Vegas, it will allow me to drag the file to the timeline, but then Vegas will “freeze” for around 30 seconds before I get control of anything on the timeline. After that, the system works fine, then when I switch to, say, Firefox, and come back to Vegas, the whole thing happens again.
At first I thought I was referencing something on one of our network drives, but I checked and all files are on a local drive…I can get a cup of coffee while waiting for this problem to resolve. Is there a setting in the Preferences that I need to change to make this faster. BTW-I do not have the Media Manager installed, could this be the cause? My system is above the recommended specs, and as I said, this problem is fairly recent. I have tons of space on the C: drive, 4 gigs of RAM. The project I’m working on is taking up about 724 megs…what gives?

    Thanks for the advice!!!

Media Manager has nothing to do with your problem…..it is
because you are online while you are editing and temporary &
internet files are constantly being processed by your computer
in the background….Firefox now further the situation, because
since its upgraded to version 3, it slows down other
    tasks initiated while its running.
Clean up your computer & defrag your drive(s)…if you have one computer….stay completely offline when you are doing serious
    editing work.

simple solution: OPTIONS / PREFERENCES / GENERAL

Untick the box that says CLOSE MEDIA FILES WHEN NOT THE ACTIVE APPLICATION

….also I hope you’re not storing your video files on your C drive either. Tht could cause problems.
