Make a new sequence with the settings you want….
then select all in your orig seq and copy and paste to the new seq.

unrendered AE comps in PPro will not typically play smoothly.
to help you in the animating you are doing in Premiere Pro…
with both Applications open
You can try ram caching a comp in AE first.
then switch to PPro.
As they share the same ram cache you should be able to play things a bit more smoothly in PPro.
Once you get things set up you will then render that section in PPro.
watch ram usage and save frequently.

Is this to say….you can apply the transition on the sequence, but it has no effect?

It’s likley they are mono clips (single waveform) and one speaker in the track (at the left edge)
and you are tying to move them to a stereo clip (2 wave forms) and 2 speakers in track (at left edge)
or the opposite.
right click in the track tabs and Add the track types that you need above or below based on the options in the panel.

just wanted to boil it down cuz it jumped around a bit.
Hadn’t thought about using MPEG STREAM Clip so I thought was very useful info.

Unfortunately, the “virtual” clips you created based on disparate sources is not able to be subclipped in the standard way.
You could put the clip in a sequence and trim it down, and use the sequences as sub clips.

what version of PPro are you using?
Full version or trial?Trial might not have the codec installed (licensing fees from Sony and all)
CS4 and CS5 use the Media Browser panel in PPro to view clips prior to importing it to your project panel.

I might say Noise reduction first then EQ.
the compression might already have a output gain control in it, so the volume might not even be necessary….so I would double check that

The above video was a little convoluted….
but the steps it outlined were:
1) Create your Premiere Pro Sequecne in your final resolution format
2) Outside PPro create a set of proxy media using MPEG Stream Clip
3) it’s important to note that your proxies should have the same names as the original full rez source
4) import your proxies into PPro and edit
5) select proxy clips in project panel and choose “Make Offline” this disconnects the clips in the project from the low rez sources
6) then select them all and choose Relink
7) now link to the full rez original version of your media.Now all your edits will be replaced with the hi-rez media.
