I’m afraid the answer is NO. If you didn’t save your “one song” project as a new .veg file, you can not restore your original project. AutoSave feature in Vegas does not create incremental backups as opposed to a true Autobackup

Place your 16:9 video on 4:3 timeline (4:3 project) and use Pan/Crop to Match Output Aspect.

1) You should not see those artifacts, if everything is exactly as you wrote.
2) Render template affects the final quality, format, resolution, field order etc.
3) Make sure that source media properties are also set to Progressive.Can you share the short part of your footage for test? I need Apple Motion JPEG (after MPEG streamclip)

From Help: “This setting is used only for events that you place on the timeline after changing the setting. Existing events will use the default fade type that was active when they were added to the timeline.“
