  • We ran into some technical issues that required us to rewrite a good chunk of it, which has delayed us quite a bit. I’m not giving any more estimates of when it will be available, but you’ll know when it is almost ready, as we’ll be announcing it everywhere.

I’m not sure what the question is — you can add as many emitters as you want, at different times (frame numbers).

  • pIllusion won’t preserve the transparency of the background image — just the particles. So you need to composite the particle images and the background images separately in AE.

Unfortunately particleIllusion for Windows (both 3.0 and SE) does not
support DV AVI files directly at this time. That means that you need to
    either:

    1) Install a standalone DV codec such as the Mainconcept DV codec or the
Panasonic DV codec. Do a websearch for “Panasonic DV codec” and you’ll find
several sites that have that free codec with instructions for installing.

    2) Convert your DV AVIs into a non-DV format such as DivX or uncompressed
AVI. This conversion would have to be done with another application. I’ve
checked into Rad Video Tools (https://www.radgametools.com), and it’s
perfect. Converts between several different formats, but the important thing
here is it will convert your DV AVI to another AVI format. It’s free.

  • There’s a button to export the shape on the “change shape” page. Looks like a floppy disk.

Straight from the “Super Emitters” section of the docs:

“Now r-click on the top emitter in the hierarchy and select Make Super Emitter.”

There’s a lot of useful information in those docs.

Alan didn’t do this video. The only part of our demo reel that I did was the intro and outro parts that show the particleIllusion and wondertouch logos. Everything else was done by particleIllusion users.

In theory, but I’ve never done it. You need some 3D skills as well as some camera-matching software.
