    Thanks a lot Rafael,

It didn’t occur to me to capture the prores as lower field.

The information about Compressor is very useful too.

Roll on the time when we’re all working solely progressive and these problems will be a thing of the past!

    Thanks a lot Bob.

No when I asked about judging interlaced errors I didn’t mean anything subtle, just whether the interlace was in the correct order or reversed. Just like you can’t do on most lcds.

Thanks Ben, Are you generally happy with the quality of the monitors and do you colour grade on them?

That seems to be for the EX1 Steve.

I too bought an early 350 and think the world of it. It’s nearly out of warrenty now. It has always produced wonderful pictures and a great workflow.

Sorry I know nothing about suggested matrix settings, I always seem to get brialliant pictures with very little effort or knowledge on my behalf.

    thanks John that’s interesting.

Does this mean that Vegas won’t run in a 64 bit OS, or just cannot take advantage of it?

Also I see from an above post that although Vegas currently does not use the GPU, some plugins (well one at least)does.

    Kindest regards

    Thanks for the reassurance Chris.

It’s a 2.4Ghz MBP with 4GB of ram. I’ve actually established that the Fx applied are slowing down the render extensively as well.

    Thanks Steve.

Am I right in believing that there is an intra-frame flavour of AVCHD as well as the inter-frame one?

I’d assume that all codecs that use temperal compression will be less edit friendly.

July 9, 2008 at 5:57 pm in reply to: FCP render pipeline?

    thanks Kevin,

I feared I might have to nest this to get it work properly.

In the absence of an interlaced monitor I had both rendered and viewed at 100%.

Come completion I’ll probably do the slomo with motion’s optical flow but I was surprised to see FCP make such a hash of it.
