I’ve got a 90 sec sequence (XDcamHD 35Mb/s) in FCP and I’m QT converting it to a H264 (755×400) clip ultimately for web streaming.

It’s taking well over an hour to encode on my 2.4GHz MBP, with a little bit of three way colour correction and the odd filter, should I expect this??

    Seems very slow.

    That sounds about right.
H.264 is extremely resource needy at this point, though there
are accelerator usb sticks out or coming out soon.

what cpu/ram do you have running?

    Thanks for the reassurance Chris.

It’s a 2.4Ghz MBP with 4GB of ram. I’ve actually established that the Fx applied are slowing down the render extensively as well.
