Haven’t loaded the Bella software but it works all right on my 2.4 Duo MBP.

According to the AJA disk speed utility I get 110MB/s write and 130MB/s read on my Firmtek 2 disk raid0 dual sata via the express card in MBP.

So Jeremy are you saying that I can/should capture the DVcam as upper field first proresHQ?

I can see that working in FCP if FCP/IoHD allows me to do it. Actually thinking about it I guess I can capture this analogue, but that seems a retrograde step.

I’m off for a couple of weeks now so won’t be able to experiment, but I’m very grateful to you both for your comments and support.

It’s gratifying that two of the forums most respected names have not poo-poohed my frustration.

Thanks Gary,

The background to this is that I’ve had a real problem mixing SD prores HQ sequences with slomoed DVcam sequences in FCP.

The Prores is 422 talking head and greenscreened over slomoed DVcam in a prores sequence.

Rafael suggested that I’d have less problems working all lower field first, hence the question about capturing PAL as lower field first.

The 422 is coming off a JVC D9 machine SDI (EBU separate audio) and I’ll be previewing using the Iohd.

So the question is: If FCP let’s me capture lower field PAL (?questionable) what will be the field order I’ll be viewing it using the IoHD?

Jeremy, it’s PAL I’m capturing.

The Prores is captured via SD SDI and EBU audio from a JVC D9 vtr. So Rafael does that mean that I have to capture upper field first which is implied by your digibeta comment?

I guess I’ll have to do some experimenting here?

Hi Kevin,

My MBP seems to run very well when booting off the external FW drive connected via USB. (Great book by the way – one of my bibles!)

Chris, I guess I’m going to have to take your advice, but it’s a bit of pain.

I did a clean Leopard install on the external drive and built all software in that.

I plan to carbon copy the entire working drive over to the MBP, is this just as good or do you mean I should start from scratch on the internal drive?
