Hi-
There are very inexpensive cables available that have 2x BNC’s on one side, and a 4-pin YC connector on the other. Here is an example:

There are also many more available from various cable adapter manufacturers. Ask your local reseller and I’m sure they can help you find one easily.

Hi again-
To answer your question about Windows file compatibility, we have our AJA Windows QuickTime codec. This codec allows media captured via KONA 2, KONA LS, or any of the Io’s to be used on Windows machines, for graphics work, etc. The rendered files created on the PC can then be used back on your OSX system and output through your AJA Desktop unit (KONA LS, Io, etc.). The KONA PC Codec covers the following compression formats:
– ‘2vuy’ (aka “Uncompressed 8-bit 4:2:2”)
– ‘2Vuy’ (aka “AJA Kona 2Vuy Codec”)
– ‘v210’ (aka “Uncompressed 10-bit 4:2:2”)
– ‘R10k’ (aka “AJA Kona 10-bit RGB Codec”)
– ‘R10g’ (aka “AJA Kona 10-bit Log RGB Codec”)Note: To reiterate, this is a codec, and not a driver for our cards. It is intended to allow PC users to use AJA media captured on a Mac. It is not a driver for use of our KONA or Io hardware in the PC environment.
This codec can be found on the KONA support section of our website:

– Kona LS has 2-ch. AES/EBU audio I/O via XLR.
– The analog video I/O can be configured as component, or composite and Y/C, via 3x BNC connectors.
– The optional KLBOX 1RU breakout box is available for only $299 US List, and adds to the Kona LS connectivity: reclocking and looping genlock, adds 2-ch. BNC AES/EBU, and adds 2-ch. unbalanced RCA analog audio outputs for monitoring.

The advantage to using the Io is not only the pro connectivity it offers, but also the varying codecs you can use. If you bring in your DV25 footage through Io, you can choose 8 or 10-bit uncompressed, DV50, etc. These formats are much more desirable for pro-level post, where color-correction, FX, etc. need to be applied. You will also see better results in MPEG-2 conversions for DVD authoring, etc., as it is truly “garbage-in, garbage-out”.
If you do use the DV25 codec via Firewire (or even via the Io) you can monitor and output that codec through any or all of the Io’s outputs (simultaneously), and interface to pro equipment such as decks, VTR’s, etc.
Please feel free to contact us if you wish any further information.
Thank you,

Hi Matthew-
Either one will work well for you. The Kona LS has an advantage over the Io LD in that it supports a second Desktop output for Photoshop work, etc. But, the Io LD does not, as you stated, take up a precious slot in your G5.
If you do not need the analog inputs available on the Kona LS, the Io LD may be just the ticket for you, as it contains not only SDI out, but 2-ch. SPDIF out as well as 10bit analog component or composite/YC out and 2-ch. analog audio out on XLR.
Call us if you need any more info!
Thank you,
