    Hi Bob-

    Under “Capture>Capture Settings”

This is where you also access a preview with either “compressed” preview, ie: with any applied compressor (DVCPRO-HD, etc.), or without.

    Thanks,

December 23, 2005 at 5:46 pm in reply to: AJA IO LA vs. BLACKMAGIC DECKLINK EXTREME

    Hi-

When you are evaluating, please keep in mind a few points:

    – The Io series, including the Io LA, have 10-bit analog-digital signal prcessing. This is very important for full quality if you are doing any blue-screen, color correction, etc., on material originated on an analog format, such as Betacam SP.

    – The Io LA also includes 4-channel 24-bit analog audio I/O, via 8x XLR connectors.

    – All of the outputs on the Io LA are always active, making it perfect for an edit bay where many monitors, decks, etc, need to be fed.

    – As Chrispy points out, the KONA LHe is a dual-rate card, that performs both SD and HD, in analog and digital. The KONA LHe also includes both analog and digital audio I/O via XLR, includes a 10-bit hardware downconverter (that can also be used stand-alone), hardware accelerates the playback of the HDV and DVCPRO-HD codecs in FCP5, and hardware accelerates Dynamic RT Extreme in FCP5. All of these features are unique to the KONA and AJA.

    – All AJA Desktop products, including the Io LA and the KONA LHe, include our 3-year international warranty, which includes advanced exchange and our excellent technical support.

If you wish to discuss any of this in deeper detail, please feel free to contact AJA!

    Thank you,

  • Hi-

Currently, Final Cut Pro does not support 720p/50, so please factor that into your discussion. That beoing said, our next driver release will have support for more HD formats used in Europe and Asia.

  • Hi-

Also, please keep in mind that the KONA LH, KONA LHe, and KONA 2 all uniquely hardware accelerate the playback of the HDV codec within Final Cut Pro 5.

They also hardware accelerate Dynamic RT Extreme in FCP5, and the DVCPRO-HD codec in FCP4.5 and FCP5!

All of this results in more processor power available, which means more RT, etc.

The KONA cards are the ONLY cards on the market that perform this unique accelration, which was developed in conjunction with Apple specifically for FCP!

    Thank you,

December 13, 2005 at 4:08 am in reply to: *New* AJA VTR Xchange application!

December 6, 2005 at 4:25 am in reply to: AJA HDP versus Blackmagic HDLink?

    Hi-

The HDP does have pixel for pixel display support, which can be switched on or off via a simple dipswitch. As you mentioned, it also has a great scaler to scale SD or 720 video up to the native res of your monitor. The HDO auto-senses what it is being fed, and either diosplays it natively, or scales up based on the switch selection.

And, as with any of our conversion products, it includes our incredible 5-year warranty, that includes our fantastic tech support and advanced exchange! Plus, we offer a 30-day return policy if you are unhappy for any reason!

    Thank you,

November 21, 2005 at 7:42 pm in reply to: AJA opens their own can of worms – Machina

    Hi-

The new XENA drivers are only for the XENA LS, XENA LHe, and XENA LH. They are not compatible with any other card, including any Xena/OEM card you may have recived as part of an OEM arrangement with another company.

This software will ship with the cards when they are released on Nov. 30.

    Thank you,
