The XENA LHe ships with our Machina software application which allows recording to DPX, Cineon, TGA, TIFF, BMP, AVI, and QuickTime files, from with er the analog or digital inputs of the LHe. The card includes RS422 control, so you will need to purchase and adapter to interface to your Z1 for mnachine contriol, if desired, or you can simply “crash” record with no timecode. You will also need to buy an adapter to interface your cameras unbalanced RCA audio outputs to the LHe’s balanced XLR. More info here:

Also, please note that the XENA Lhe, XENA LH, and XENA LS do NOT have any Premiere pro 2.0 integration, but instead are targeted at professional motion graphics. The XEAN HS does include PP2.0 integration, but does not offer the HD analog I/O that the LH/LHe does.

The XENA LH is not compatible with Premiere Pro 2.0, but is instead targeted at professional motion graphics users. The XENA HS is our solution for PP2.0, and is part of Adobe’s OpenHD initiative. Please note that the XENA HS is NOT an OEM card, but is instead a retail card, with custom software for retail Windows users, and native support built directly into PP2.0. The native support in Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 is unique to the XENA HS, and the plug-ins to support it are integrated directly into PP2.0, developed by Adobe. You will also need to download our XENA HS software installer, which includes our driver, as well as our plug-ins for After Effects 7.0 and Photoshop CS2. The KONA 2 and KBOX can output analog signals, including composite, as Walter states. On KBOX, there are three BNC’s under the “Video Monitor Out” section. The first is labeled “Y/G/CVBS”, which is the one that can be configured as composite. If you are not using KBOX, on the supplied analog breakout cables use the Green, labeled “Y/G/CVBS”.

Open the KONA Control Panel (located in “KONA” folder in your “Applications” folder). Click the “Analog Out” tab. Under the “Analog Format” pulldown, select “Composite + YC”. Also, in the “Formats” tab, please verify that your primary video format is set correctly to match the settings of the video you are trying to output (or if you are downconverting, ensure that your secondary format is set correctly).

You can also apply the downconverter on input during capture, and capture your HDV as 10-bit SD. Simply feed the KONA LH the HD component analog output of your HDV camera/deck, apply the downconverter to the analog input in the KONA Control Panel, and use a KONA LH 10-bit Uncompressed 525 Easy Setup. This way, you will have 4:2:2 10-bit uncompressed SD files to work with in FCP, etc. You can also capture it as DV50 or 8-bit uncompressed…whatever is best for your post workflow.

The codecs are part of Final Cut Pro, as we do not use any proprietary codecs, just Apple’s. You may want to try a reinstall of FCP, or please try to provide a little more information as to what happened when your information was lost.
