someone correct me, but if you use Ultimate S2, can capture frames at set intervals, to create stop motion effect……..

    I think.

I agree 100% for Acronis True Image – much better than PowerQuest Drive Image (corrupt as heck) or Norton Ghost (buggy). And Acronis is currently only 15 quid on Amazon.co.uk

ditto on most of your other utilities.

Also try Diskeeper 8 by Executive Software for best defragging tool. some say you don’t need to defrag NTFS but I beg to differ.

Just got Registry Mechanic from download.com – looks good. Likely to buy it.

    I’ll go first

    😉

all you need is firewire for capture – NOTHING else. either a card or built-in port or Canopus ADVC100/110 etc

if you have a hunky graphics card, it will help for compositing but not much else.

getting more memory is always a good idea, too

also PD150 owner: if audio is a problem, should simply be recording to another medium, eg minidisc, portable HDD etc direct from the mixer, or mic into the recorder then sync. Wouldn’t consider the PD150/170’s audio to be a problem in that respect.

also, stick with ONE brand of tape. Not so much an issue as it used to be, but still less likely to have hassles with gumming of the heads if only using a single brand. Some people mix and have no hassles, whereas others get themselves into a sticky situ

August 4, 2005 at 1:23 pm in reply to: The final word on using pictures in Vegas 6?

just finished another montage. I used jpegs at 1500 x 1000 res approx, so capable to do some zooming in / panning. About 250 pics. Only hassle I have is that when I click away from Vegas and return to it, have to wait 10 secs or so for Vegas to confirm links to media. I know I can turn that confirmation off.

have never tried a montage with PNG either. Just never thought about it – lol – though always use PNG for any graphics brought into Vegas.

I use nikon Capture to colour correct and batch my NEFS to 100% jpegs, and then batch those again to smaller images, if necessary, using Irfanview, since it’s such a fast, light program (Irfanview forever!!!). Pity Capture doesn’t offer NEF to PNG, AFAIK.

  • very smooth

    good stuff 🙂

  • have been using Canon i965 and very happy – newer models out (i990 etc), of course, but this will do the trick and more. Photo rendition is pretty amazing too

    single inks x 6

pictbridge compatible, 4×6 feeder, A4 full colour in less than a minute, blah blah blah
