Stop motion, and DVDs on the timeline.
I had two quick questions I haven’t been able to figure out.
I have Vegas 4 and love it with a passion.
I’ve been told that some folks have found a way to put a DVD on the timeline.
I’d like to be able to do this as it would save me quite some steps on encoding and reencoding a project I’m working on.
(Note: The DVDs I’d like to put on the time line are not copyrighted, so that’s not an issue I need to work around. 🙂
Next, does anyone know if it’s possible to set Vegas up to do stop motion animation?
I can think of HARD ways to do it, but I was hoping there was some way I could set a camera up and capture frame by frame with a click.
Any ideas?

Your best bet is to get them back to DV-AVI using something like DVD2AVI. If the audio is AC3, you’ll also need to convert that back to WAV.

someone correct me, but if you use Ultimate S2, can capture frames at set intervals, to create stop motion effect……..

Yes, Ultimate S 2 can capture stills at set intervals. So can Excalibur. However, in this case it sounds more like you want 1 frame each from MANY files.

As far as the stop motion, ideally I’d like to set up a camera, and see on screen what it sees, then click somewhere to capture a single frame to the timeline.
I’d then move my little clay figure or whatever(which the camera is recording) and click the next frame, one at a time.

So, you won’t be taping the entire time. You just want the capture program to pull in one frame. Vidcap CAN capture snapshots. If numbered correctly you could then just do a File – Import, pick the first one, and check the “image sequence” box and it will bring them all to the timeline as ONE clip with each image being one frame.

I use Scenalyzer to do the frame-by-frame capture for timelapse then import the images as a sequence.
