Check your RAM and GPU usage, and if you have the latest drivers installed.
I usually get a grey preview window when I come back from a really memory intensive After Effects Project, but it goes back to normal after a while.

And try updating the software to,Updates will contain patches, which will hopefully fix the problem that you’re having.

Could you please post in your System Specs as well?
And if you are working with 20+ layers of just text,it’s advisable for you to work in After Effects,AE is always dependable to work on Typography.

HD should take a fair amount of time to render.

What do you mean by Crashes when you turn on GPU Acceleration?
Well,if Render times are too long for SVP 12,Why not work in SVP 11?There are only minor updates.

    Wait…

1.Do you want to write 1080p in 1080p into DVDs?

First of all, convert the video to 720×576 using Handbrake.
Download Nero(The Trial) and use it to burn the DVD,It won’t lose much quality.
Or you could try “DVD Architect” from Sony.

You can’t expect renders to be super fast!
It has it’s own pros and cons.

The project you might be rendering may have a ton load of effects, which will in-turn slow your PC down.Since you have a Cuda GPU,in the render windows of Vegas Pro 12,select “Render using GPU” this will speed up your render as Vegas will use your GPUs’ Cuda Cores.

Though I use Handbrake myself Ron,Like most people here,I have never used the “Advanced” Tab.

I have used it to compress big files(19.8 GB to 500MB) for uploading to media sharing site.
One of my friend types in a couple codes and Handbrake believe it or not compressed 50GB to 500MB with no loss of quality.

It’s really good if you have a codec which your NLE doesn’t support or you want to compress your large file to a small one for cloud storage or anything.

  • I was never happy with CC.I still use the classic ones,CS6 and CS 5.5 for most of my projects.
Sometimes,I tune myself into Vegas, but ends up quitting it and getting back to PR.

  • I am working on Canon 5D MkIII and 650D at the moment.
    So,it’s not a problem.

Anyways,I would have loved a Match Sequence Settings option with PR CS 5.5
