Let me just throw this out: have you repaired permissions lately?

That’s pretty much it. Give it a test, it’s been awhile since I’ve done it.

The SD footage – is it filmed? that is 24fps with pulldown? or is it 60field video-style footage?

The thing to do is pulldown removal on the SD footage so it’s 24fps, plop it in the timeline and it’ll look fine.

    graphics at 23.98.

I don’t know how the BM card does it, but Kona outputs 59.94 from a 23.98 timeline very cleanly.

I can’t say for RED… but given the amount of P2 we’ve been seeing lately: Let the clients know that they will need to spend $$$$ on storage. Lots of it. And everything needs a backup.

    This always works for me:

AE = render to Animation + Alpha. Premultiplied
    FCP = Modify -> Alpha -> Black

I trust OWC enough just to put in fresh when your computer arrives. But definitely hold onto the Apple RAM for a time in case there are problems… Also Apple is a little pain-in-the-ass when you need warranty repair and have non-Apple RAM

    It won’t accept 720p/23.98

Set Kona to 720/59.94 even in your 24fps timeline. Panny Pro looks great. It just dupes frames, and you’d be pressed to tell

January 29, 2008 at 5:19 pm in reply to: rendering error

That’s an error that crops up all the time… even on a modern FCP suite.

Try switching your render location. Repair permissions…. Does it sometimes render and sometimes not, even though nothing’s changed? That’s my experience

    Kona LH is fine.

HDCAM is pretty standard… however if you need to deliver 5.1 mixes, you need to go with an 8channel D5 or HDCAM-SR… or you’ll need DA88 tapes to go with the HDCAM. The station reqs will sum it up.

Some places also accept DVCPRO-HD tapes.

    That’s a expensive question.

First, what is thetation’s delivery reqs for HD?
