The internal SATA can, in a crunch, do short bursts of 10 bit uncompressed. I’ve actually relied on it to do some heafty 8bit uncompressed emergency storage (with no audio).

You should be on Decklink 5.1 drivers. There are also 5.2 drivers but they’ve been questionable for some users. My setup is almost identical, but only 4 gigs RAM. Try pulling it down to the Apple RAM only, though I wouldn’t know why that would be a problem. Mystery of the church.
We just got a brand new G5 system, preloaded with 10.4.2, only installed FCP Studio and drivers for the IO, nothing else, and it’s been buggy. Crashing often. I’m wondering if there are some problems with factory installed OS?

yeah, i was afraid of that. it’s time to up the raid to another couple hours of storage. we had a 16×9 widescreen filter over the ENTIRE thing, so already it was a monster.
I know I should get away from Text 3d. I just got so used to it, and it worked fine in FCP 4.5, that’s it’s hard to let it go.

if i’m not mistaken, Avid invented and owns the OMF standard…. that’s part of the reason you can’t import them into Final Cut.

I found out that if you take your 4:3 clips, copy and paste into a 16×9 anamorphic timeline, with Field settings on Lower, and scale everything to 133%, FCP will resize to anamorphic for you. But yeah, while organic surfaces look pretty decent, fine details are very aliased.

that’s all you do. Switch it over to a drop frame sequence, make any adjustments to your TRT to fit the show specs. Quick n’ easy.

it almost sounds like it tried to generate a Quicktime Ref, as opposed to new media. Or when it wrote out header on the file it mis labled it as a red?
QT error 2048 is “noMovieFound”
If it worked before, same drivers, same system, same dog and pony show….. the only other thing i would try, mount all the drives over ethernet on another system, and go through the process.

I’ve nearly NEVER gotten “delete unused” to work in FCP 5 Media Mangler. I’ve tried “set independant” and it just doesn’t want to kick over.
My latest trick is to export an XML v.1, take it into FCP 4.5, use that Media Manager to create an offline, and it works. Things like filter and video levels and speed ramps and keyframes will foul it up, but if you have cuts and dissolves, it should be pretty solid.

i run into this ALL the time. especially recieving a FCP project to do an online for. bogiesan is right that you should try a couple re-iterations of MM and see if it sorts itself out…. sometimes I still get problems, so i sit around adding an “x” or whatever to the end of the filenames until the dialogue box goes away.

when’s the last time you used Media Mangler to make an offline project deleting unused handles?
