Here’s something that might work out for you real quick – just used this on a major artist’s concert dvd:
Line up the audio at the head, eye match if needed, and then take that audio for the sequence and modify the speed to 99.91%. This should slow the 24.0 fps audio down to the 23.98(29.97)fps video. Set audio quality to High and render.

I use it everyday, making money since version 3. i love it, i gave up the avid system, but sometimes BOOT to the FCP! YaAAHHH!

Mock it up in After Effects and render out a quicktime….This versions of FCP is very buggy in those regards.

Which version? we had a problem with media manager hanging up on a file because we created a freeze-frame.

It works fine. 24fps EDL from FCP, Cinema Tools to convert it to 29.97, online in Avid Symphony. You might get a frame drift on the out points, but it should sail right in otherwise.

Not specifically, but you can have, say, a DVCPRO-HD 720p or 1080i project, and the new drivers allow a live downconversion to SD.

I’m a little uncertain of your workflow. I would think making a Digibeta from the HD first, and digitizing that would give you a more solid souce. Is the deck feeding live NTSC downconvert + live NTSC timecode to FCP?

Probably because in your Batch capture there were in points that weren’t on an A frame. It’s kinda like a “you have to do it from the very start” sort of deal. I could NEVER get the automatic VITC Blackmagic pulldown thing to work – which, from what i understand, is supposed to let you set any In point and get proper 3:2 removal.

Awesome. 720P to NTSC downconversion!!! Looks a little pixeled in letterbox, but it beautiful in anamorphic!

I’ve been told a last-ditch effort is to put the HD in a freezer, stick it back in the machine, and hope you can get any bits off.
