I would highly reccomend NOT doing so. You never want to compress Program Files. In the end the best you are going to save is a few gigs, but that may not be worth the trouble.

Unlike Avid, Premiere Pro is not hardware dependant and certainly not as picky as Avid.
There are no “optimal” settings for Premiere Pro. If you have the best hardware around, then you should be fine.

If you do choose to go the MPEG2 route, make sure that you reduce the quality of the encoding from ‘5’ to ‘3’. Unless your video has fast motion, you shouldn’t notice any difference in quality. -

As of this point there isn’t a way to print clip notes files. However, there is a plugin that I am testing that will do this exact same thing. If you can send me an email, I will be happy to get you a pre-release copy directly from the author.Thanks,

If I understand correctly, clicking on the name column should auto-arrange the files.

Try this:a) Create a NON-Matrox project
b) Import the QT file into the project
c) See if the problem repeats itself.

A couple of things:
a) Are you using Premiere Pro 2.0?
b) Have you tried this without the Cineform HDV (aka native HDV). -

Yes, HDV is an MPEG2 variant. However, MPEG2 content from DVRs are not the same as MPEG2s generated from HDV cameras. Also, MPEG2 can have a lot of different characteristics. To help you out better, please answer the following:a) Frame Size
b) Bit-Rate

There are some issues with capturing and previewing in Premiere pro 2.0. I have seen this before on similar system such as yours, but the only thing that helped was replacing the firewire card and modifying a few software settings. To see what settings I modified, check out Adobe.com and search for the term ‘Can’t Activate Recorder’ in their Knowledge Base.
