    Hi All:

I am trying to burn my timeline straight to dvd. When I am in my DVD Export Window, my burner is not detected. I just burned a disc in Encore, however, I don’t have the time to render each video file from Premeire to take it into Encore. Any suggestions on what could be wrong? Thanks!

I have seen similar issues with Premiere and burners, even when the burner is recognized, the burn often crashes. I export from Pro as Mpeg2 for DVD and then author in Encore…no time lost.

Hi Mike. Thanks for getting back to me! When I export the MPEG2 for DVD to author in Encore, it is taking anywhere from 40 minutes to an hour to export each. Am I doing something wrong?

Not directly. Depends on your configuration, length of timeline, amount of movement in the timeline, encoder settings, etc.

In general I calculate about RT for CBR and 2 times RT for 2-pass VBR on a 3.4 CPU. Things change when running dual Woodcrest CPU’s. So give some more details.

Both Encore and Premiere use the same encoder. If there is significant difference then the Presets are probably different…one CBR and the other VBR 2 pass which will take twice as long.

I’m set on CBR, but I’ll check it out for both. Thanks so much!

    Sandra,
If you do choose to go the MPEG2 route, make sure that you reduce the quality of the encoding from ‘5’ to ‘3’. Unless your video has fast motion, you shouldn’t notice any difference in quality.

    OK, Thanks so much!
