I’m finalising my project to DVD exporting to MPEG2 using Adobe media encoder and my project is in HDV using Cineform. My MPEG2 exports are flawless, BUT my fade-outs aren’t following. I didn’t use the dissolve transition (dissolving to black) but I prefered the fade-outs of the opacity bands – but they don’t follow when I export to MPEG2…
Anybody that could help me out?

    Regards,

    A couple of things:
    a) Are you using Premiere Pro 2.0?
    b) Have you tried this without the Cineform HDV (aka native HDV).

    Hello.

    a) Yes, Premiere Pro 2.0

    b) This is not an option. I captured everything with the cineform codec and I’ve edited everything with it because I had to due to the heavy process of the Premiere HD. And anyway, the fade-outs are visible with the cineform codec on my timeline, it is when I export my timeline to MPEG2 with the Adobe Media Encoder that I loose my fade-outs.

I believe the failure to do fadeouts and fadeins when generating a mpeg2 or mv2 is a problem with ppro 1.5 and 2.0. The workaround I use is to put a clip of ‘black video’ to dissolve to or out of.

Hello Bill, and thanks for your answer.

I’m aware of the workaround method, but the fades just don’t look as good and you don’t have as much control over them. This is a real bug.

Do you use additive or cross dissolve in your workarounds?

Cross. Definitely a bug. And you’re right. The workaround doesn’t seem as smooth.

If you use opacity to fade, are you using a black clip on the timeline to fade to ..?
