I have seen that happen when there is a problem with your mail server.

But you could also try deleting the entire keychain not just the email passwords from it. There could be some corruption in the keychain file itself.

You posted this exact same question about 4 or 5 hours before you posted it again.

There is no need to double post.

Give some time for people to respond. Also keep in mink that it is a weekend, yes even a holiday weekend so traffic here on the forums will probably be a little slow.

But like the answer you have been given use Soundtrack Pro.

One reason I believe that you cannot log and capture Apple Intermediate Codec is because when capturing video using AIC you are essentially forcing the computer to do a conversion on the fly. This conversion can be vary processor intense, by giving it more to think about like a log and capture might just push it over the top.

November 22, 2007 at 8:51 am in reply to: How do you install tiger on a firewire partition

[Mark Jackson] “I partitioned it correctly.”

Possibly NOT. Apple has started doing something a little new, that I doubt many people know about. On the latest revisions of several of their computers, in able to boot from an external it must use a GUID partition map as opposed to the older and still more common Apple Partition Map. An Apple Partition Map can be used on all PPC, and most Intels (except the newest releases), a GUID Partition Map I believe can be used on any Intel Mac.

Also you may not be able to install Tiger on that computer (and if you do most likely it will not run properly.

Also a explanation I posted earlier on the cow about the same thing.

[Chris Poisson] “So although it may have been rushed to market, it can still be used on a practical basis. “

There is absolutely no reason to think that it was rushed to market. By saying that it gives validation to speculation, at that is where rummers start. And rummers are just that rummers.

This new feature is extremely similar to capturing using the Apple Intermediate Codec. Because the burden os on the processor to do the encoding I believe that logging and capturing was probably left out for this purpose. Having the processor not only run the operating system, the application and the BIG task of encoding the video to ProRes is a lot to give a processor (especially any older G5) By not making it do extra thinking required for a log and capture it saves the computer from a bit more work, and thus less potential problems capturing the material.

First off this post probably belongs on the OS X forum.

If when you run software update again and it wants to download them again, then yes you will have to download them again.

I could be wrong but I believe that when software update downloads an update it is to a temp location.

The last several versions of Photoshop have had easy setups for all the standard formats of video. Just choose the one that fits the format of video you are using, and away you go.

November 20, 2007 at 11:19 pm in reply to: importing quicktime file into FCP doesn”t work

[jonomaloney] “I was given a dvd of a video that I need to pull the files from and edit into a different project.

So I copied the Video_TS folder from the DVD to my hard drive.
Then I converted the .VOB files to Mpeg4 using Handbrake.

The new mpeg4 files open and work in Quicktime.

But when in FCP I ask it to import the mpeg4 files and it does not work. Why? “

Hand break makes HIGLY compressed files that are fine for watching but NOT fine for editing.

If you have any more questions please do a search first.

The topic of your question is covered at least once a week here on the cow, you will find plenty of info with a search.

[Post Office Video] “This feature definitely feels like a kludge at the moment. Come on… no log & capture, not even any preview? Ugh. It feels like this was rushed out the door.”

Capturing to the Apple Intermediate Codec NEVER gave you the option to log and capture. My guess, is that it douse not let you log and capture because it needs to save every ounce of processor power for the ProRes encoding.

And there is preview, at lest there was when I tried it with my FX1.

My guess on the no log and capture is based off of when I tried it the preview actually told me that the preview was a certain percentage behind the actual play back. On my Dual 2.5 G5 it fluctuated between 9% and 13% behind.
