It might be best to just rent a good mic for your shoot. The price of the adapters you might need could be close to the price of a daily rental fee.

I gave up on cheep mics after my second one died on me, and since I don’t use them to often I just rent them now. At my local rental shop it is like $35 a day for a nice lav system.

If you have FCP 6 you can play HDV back out firewire to view, but it will not look to pretty. To have it look good going out you must go through the long conforming before laying it back to tape.

I would look into the Matrox MXO for what it sounds like you are trying to accomplish.

Open each project and then use media manager to move that one project the the new drive.

You say that some people do not set the capture scratch folder so I am betting that projects are all mixed together.

By using media manager will let you move all the files that are used with the project into one location on the new drive. Create a new folder with the name of each project on the new drive.

In the future you should make it LAW that each editor change location of the scratch folders to the proper project folder. If this is not done eventually somebody will delete an old project and any captured footage, render files etc from newer projects that are mixed in because things were not changed to a new project will also be deleted. Not a fun thing to deal with.

December 6, 2007 at 10:12 pm in reply to: HD Backup_can’t copy busy items???

my guess is that you are trying to simply drag all the contents of the system drive to the external. The reason for the message saying [pixelmeister] “”One or more files are busy and can’t be copied. “ is because you are probably trying to copy the system files that are always in use.

If you just copy your users folder that should contain all your personal data.

Another option is to clone the drive using a program like carbon copy cloner.

Clone your existing startup disk to another drive, and then erase the system drive and start fresh.

    [heidi Phillips] “new intel ibooks”

There is no such computer. Apple has not made iBooks for close to two years, and iBooks never had intel processor.

What computer are you attempting to use?

Yes you could create separate businesses one for corporate and one for event, I have known people that have done well keeping both under one name though.

One thing though the main page of your website says “Our passion is working with new and different clients who are looking to advertise in new and unique ways.” however directly above that is a picture of a wedding.

You are giving mixed signals by doing that.

I would say have a more generic production/info page to start and if you choose to keep both corporate and events under one business name, have a separate page completely devoted to each.

One more thing about your website, it is VARY cookie cutter, give it a little more originality.

You might be able to go to black and white, but I am betting it still looks funny.

There is really noting that could be done to fix the footage that would not be more pain staking, time intensive and most more expensive then reshooting.
