[spence77] “I am exporting an HDV movie – about 1 hour 40 minutes and it says it will take 6 hours to export… just days ago i exported the same movie and it only took an hour. i am doing nothing different…. “
Several things could effect this, if the computer is also doing something else, or even your hard drives being more full could slow it down.
[spence77] “I have to make a DVD – i will bring it into QUicktime pro and export it again with letterbox to make a dvd NTSC… everytime i use the same settings in final cut the aspect ratio is off. i’ve tested it many times “
There is absolutely no reason to use quick time pro to help make a DVD. Simply export directly from FCP to using compressor and choose a DVD preset. This will take the HDV material and convert it to files that are ready to bring into DVD SP.

The others have given several good solutions, just keep in mind that those files will be large files, and the only hard drive format that works well with both mac & PC is Fat32, and Fat32 has a 4GB file size limit.
Depending on what you are doing it may be beat to lay it to tape and then have it recaptured on the PC.

[Lori] “I even tried converting the files to .mov files and Final Cut still gives me the same error.”
How did you convert them to MOV’s?

I don’t even use it my self. But it was found with a 10 Sec google search.
No offense but did you do a search, before positing, I find that SO MANY people don’t. They just post a question and wait and expect someone to answer. One of the best skills anyone can have is the ability to find an answer. Yes that is what the cow is for, but it can be even more useful with a search, finding an answer in a couple of minutes, and then getting back to the task at hand is fat better then waiting hours for someone to post a solution.
No offense if you did do a search, but if I was able to find that in 10 sec, then you can bet you can find something that fits your needs in a short time.
Also you never posted what specks you wanted in your AIF files, you just said you wanted a MP3 to AIF automated converter, so that is what I gave you.

Now I cant say how it compares to your original one, I looked at your original thread, but the link was broken.
As for was you posted with this new link, I liked it, but only after the first two video spots were over. The first with the crazy doctor, the audio was horrible, and was really distracting. And this is the FIRST thing that you are showing people. The second part about the XGames, the video quality just didn’t seem all that good.
Overall your segment on video was so so, the part I REALLY liked was your animating and compositing. Like some of the others said this really seems to be your strong point.
One thought I had was maybe make two separate demo reels. One for video, and one for animating and compositing.
I would really pursue something with animating and compositing, it REALLY seems to be where you shine. You could even freelance with it. Many production companies, just stick to the video part, and hire freelancers for animating and compositing.
Best of luck.

Any number of things could have caused that to happen. Probably some corruption in your OS.

If the drive has a physical problem them disk warrior can do nothing to fiX it.

Glad you joined the pasture her on the cow.
This question is extremely common here on the cow. In the future, please do a search before posting a question.

You must select custom and then adjust the settings when you export.
