Tried to make a droplet in Compressor that lets me batchconvert mp3 files to aiff files. It works, but for some reason it throws away the last couple of seconds from the song, AND it opens the batch monitor window, which is a bit annoying. Anyone have a small droplet or applescript or something that will do this with many files at a time and just works ?? I am trying to not use programs like Soundgrinder cause this droplet will be used on 15 different editing suites..

Use iTunes. It will convert mp3s to aiff, if you have your preferences set to export aiff files.

Itunes is a bit too complicated. We are talking 1 terrabyte of music and big productions. Trying to stay away from making the editors use itunes too much in fear that they mess up the music folder structure too much.

It’s only making 44.1 khz aiffs. Can’t be used in productionwork.

Sure they can. It’s 32k stuff you don’t want to use. 48k is better, but 44.1 is ok.

Ok…. You could just use a program like Sound Grinder. It will do exactly what you want.

Well, I have always thought that everything should be in 48khz. I remember experiencing small sound glitches when using 44.1, but that might have been an earlier version of fcp.

I don’t even use it my self. But it was found with a 10 Sec google search.

No offense but did you do a search, before positing, I find that SO MANY people don’t. They just post a question and wait and expect someone to answer. One of the best skills anyone can have is the ability to find an answer. Yes that is what the cow is for, but it can be even more useful with a search, finding an answer in a couple of minutes, and then getting back to the task at hand is fat better then waiting hours for someone to post a solution.

No offense if you did do a search, but if I was able to find that in 10 sec, then you can bet you can find something that fits your needs in a short time.

Also you never posted what specks you wanted in your AIF files, you just said you wanted a MP3 to AIF automated converter, so that is what I gave you.

Sorry if I sounded not as thankfull as I should. Thanks for looking for the script.

I did try to search, and I have searched quite a bit to find an easy app to fullfill my dream of doing easy batch converting. I’ve just found big apps that can do this (sound grinder) or info on doing this in compressor (which I can’t really figure out how to do smoothly)

So again, thanks for your effort

Are you converting 1 terrabyte of MP3s into aiffs?
