NOPE standard DVDs are NOT HD quality, for that you would want to make a BlueRay DVD

How are you monitoring your video when editing? Im betting its only being viewed via computer screen during editing, and if that is the case then you are never going to get accurate representation of the video. Proper monitoring can only be done by monitoring on an display built for video not on a computer screen.

I would make sure that all the users do NOT have adminitrator privliges in their accounts. Have a seperate admin account that only one or two people have access to. This will insure that someone does not go and install an update or some other peace of software that might cause problems when sharing with the other edit stations.

You say it’s basic stuff. I hate to break it to you but color corection and color marching are NOT basic things.
Wanting to use FCE to do that is like asking Jiffy Lube to overhaul the engine in your car.

If he is only using FCE then chances are that he is NOT set up with a proper monitoring system for proper color correction anyway.
Tell him if he wants BIG features he needs to buy the full FCS and get him self set up for PROPER monitoring that color correction will need.

Simply install the new drive, boot from the Install disk and format the new drive then install the OS on it.

What type of media drive are you using. I see a lot of people that completely overlook how important a good media editing raid is when it comes to video production.
