To tell for sure if the issues will be brought back if you erase and then reclone, boot from the cloned drive and see if the same issues occur there.

Chances are the issues will be there as well.

The best thing to do is to erase the drive and start from scratch on it. Install a clean OS, then all your applications run any needed updates etc. Once you are at that point it may not be a bad idea to clone it at that stage making a “Master Image” of what you typically have on your computer. That way if anythings gets messed up in the future all you need to do is back up your data files to another drive, erase and reclone from the “Master Image” thus saving you from having to do the long process of of reinstalling the OS and all the applications over again.

That application is self contained, Quicktime is a CORE part of the OS. The Quicktime application in the applications folder is simply a Player. That is why it is called “Quicktime Player”. The “Quicktime Player” utilizes the Quicktime Core Component in the OS. Replacing the “Quicktime Player” in the applications folder does not give you a previous version of Quicktime. Like I said because Quicktime is a Core component on the OS you MUST archive and install the entire OS to revert to a previous version of Quicktime.

No with time machine you can only bring back individual files, folders etc. Quicktime for example is a core component in the OS and so it will have things that it references in MANY places.

There is absolutely no universal format that will definitely work on every machine out there.

Flash is by for the most universally compatible format you can use, I believe that all the common web bowsers have the flash plugin already in them.

The video will not play because you do not have a appropriate quicktime codec installed on your computer.

I completely agree, I have made the suggestion to the Cow before that when you go to make a new post, it should ask/remind you to search the forums before even letting you write your question, That alone would save a lot of needless posts on topics that come up at least once a week.

The Cow can also tell if you are a new at posting on the forums (it tell you your post will be screened before posting the first couple of times you post, so it knows). Why not also add a message to new people posting about using descriptive subject lines. For example looking at Greg’s posting history he uses subjects like help, or please help. I do not mean to pic on Greg at all, many other people use the same subject lines.

I love the Cow, I just think a few simple design changes would do a lot to educate those new to the pasture.
