  • Problem Importing MPEG-4

Posted by Carson Felix on February 16, 2008 at 12:47 am

I’m working on a FCP project and I would like to import some clips from some DVDs I own. I converted scenes from the DVDs using HandBrake for Mac. The output files were simple MPEG-4 videos. When I tried to import them into FCP, however, it gave me this error message:

    [O Not Found, 1 Unsupported].

Any ideas on how to solve this? Is there any other way I can get these DVDs into a format that will work for sure? Freeware apps?

Thanks a lot for your time.

Try running your mp4 thru MpegStreamclip and use the Frame Blending option. We’ve found some odd behaviour with some mp4’s here, and this seems to even out the amount of data in each frame so FCP will open it.

That is like photo copying a photo copy.

You will get better results if you run your DVD files through MpegStreamClip.

As the others suggest, use MPEG Streamclip and make sure you create quicktime movies, not MPEG-4’s. Create a DV movie or a Quicktime movie using whatever codecs you want to use, but avoid MPEG-4. That’s not an editing codec.

    Hi,

I have a similar problem. I used handbrake to rip a DVD and now have MPEG-4 into Final Cut. Sadly the original source material has been scratched and so I have to rely on the ripped material. I am a complete novice, so don’t really know what I’m talking about but do I also need to put the footage through Streamclip and how do I do that?
    Many thanks
    Michelle
