I also am planing on getting a MBP. I am definitely getting the 17″ High-Res, it has some sweet screen real-estate. I just haven’t decided on mat or glossy yet.

5400rpm is fine for the system drive, I myself plan on using a eSATA for my media drives. You are already planning on getting 4GB of ram so that is perfect.

That is PERFECTLY NORMAL, HDV is NOT like DV footage. You cannot just play it out firewire like DV video.

No offense but you really should study up of a video format before you start editing with it.

[Alex schmit] “So you cant use the Multicam feature in Final Cut Pro to do this?”

No the multi-cam feature requires video files that are already fully captured.

[George Wedemeyer] “Are you implying that the EyeTV will take a component input and ALSO PASS the component signal to the display??”

[George Wedemeyer] “Since even solutions like eyeTV are not intended to be component video inputs”

If you would have looked at the Technical Specifications page of the EyeTV Hybrid you would have read the following information.

    Input and Output:
    Antenna input: Coaxial connector (IEC)
S-Video (via break out cable, included)
Composite video (via break out cable, included)
Stereo audio (via break out cable, included)

You can feed a component input into it, just like a TV it has an antenna and OTHER inputs, all you need to dod is select which input you are taking the signal from just like a TV.

Does it happen with just that one tape or with any other tape you try to capture?

If it happens under another user account then it is definitly the OS. You probably dont need to erase the whole computer, try an archive and install I the OS that will keep all your data and reinstall just the OS.
