capturing nightmare!
Hey, I’m capturing from my sony z1 camera into final cut pro 5. This has never happened before but every time I click capture after 4 seconds approx it stops and a message comes up saying that there’s probably a problem with the source tape. I’m completely lost as the system is up to date and this has never happened before. there’s no drop out of my tapes, they’re in perfect shape. Does anyone have a suggestion. any help would be hugely valued! Yours, dave Miller

Does it happen with just that one tape or with any other tape you try to capture?

I just started getting the same problem with FCP6 and the Z!.
Happens t a few seconds into a tape. I got the same tape to work by importing as a plain DV tape instead of DVCAM.
I have no idea what causes the problem.Paul

How is timecode set in your camera?
If its sets to the default of auto, this will cause you great pain. The auto setting deals with DF and NDF, and chances are you’re working in the opposite DF than your tape.
You need to set your camera to the timecode standard that you use. This will solve most of your headaches. The other will have to be up to the shooter.

FCP Vers5.?? I suggest an upgrade if you want to have less grief with HDV.
