i am unable to use external video when my easy setup is set to hd, hdv-720p24. when i go to Audio/Video Settings > A/V Devices and click on the video pulldown menu the option for HDV
(1280 x 720) 24p is grayed out. Although i am able to select it in the “Different Output for Edit to Tape/ Print to Video area in the A/V Devices tab. What i am trying to do is playback my hd sequence to an hd monitor through my JVC BR-HD50 deck. I am using final cut pro 6.

That is PERFECTLY NORMAL, HDV is NOT like DV footage. You cannot just play it out firewire like DV video.

No offense but you really should study up of a video format before you start editing with it.

Don’t let technology get in the way of your creativity!

    Jonathan,

You can play out to an Apple Cinema display via DVI, by selecting ACD full screen from your view>video playback menu.

Or you can do the same thing with a Martox MXO only color calibrated.

Only other option is to get some kind of HD card such as a Kona or BlackMagic.

    Have a wonderful day.
