Is it Possible (Live Editing)
Hello Creative Cow members,
I would like to know if it is possible to use Final Cut Pro for Live Broadcasting editing?
Here is the deal, we have up to 6 Cameras which are remotely controlled and we use a Ross Video switcher to do the editing that all goes directly to DVD.
Sometimes we catch bad shoot or the Hot Camera gets moved by accented. It was mentioned why we don’t use an Nonlinear editing tool as in Final Cut Pro to do the Job
So you can back to fix a bad edit.So is Final Cut Pro powerful and has the right tools to do so?
What other equipment/hardware would we need to make this possible?
Also what is Final Cut Server what can this do for use?Thank you

i reckon Peter Wiggins is the guy you need to speak to. He cuts the Tour de France each year using FCP. I believe he has live feeds going into his raid, and software that converts thse to quicktimes that can be edited whilst the stream is still being ingested.

It’s called “Picture Ready”, and it allows “live Capture”. If you’re planning on having “iso” feeds captured, just know that you will need a specific computer for each “camera”. If you’re planning on six cameras, that’s SIX computers running FCP.
It can be done, but I bet the price tag is going to be more than you’re willing to pay.

No the multi-cam feature requires video files that are already fully captured.
