[Steven J. Gilbert] “Are you looking for the codec in Camtasia or FCP?”
BOTH you should have them match.
[Steven J. Gilbert] “I used an animation codec to render the timeline after import.”
Like I said they match, so only use that as your time line settings if thats the codec you screen capture in.
If posible use the ProRes Codec.

[Steven J. Gilbert] “I am using Camtasia Studio 7 for screen capture. My FCP timeline settings I am adjusting. “
That answers NONE of the questions I asked.
Look at the list of easy setups in FCP, pick a screen record setting that matches one.

[Steven J. Gilbert] “When I render, the screen capture looks horribly blurry”
What are your timeline settings?
[Steven J. Gilbert] “I have captured a computer screen tutorial that needs to be transferred to FCP”
What codec is your screen capture in?

Have you tried deleting the FCP preference files?

[trevor ambrose] “I typically use my laptop for internet, calendar and other typical “normal” stuff.”
You can use any laptop for that, even the cheapest MacBook.
Now if you plan on ever editing on it that is another thing altogether.
[trevor ambrose] “What would I get out of the esata express card?”
Hard drive speed. eSata is 2x faster then FW800. And hard drive speed is HUGE when it comes to performance editing video.

[trevor ambrose] “Is the $1799 2.4GHz more than enough for my FCP needs or is it wise to go to the 2.53GHz i5 or is it best to go 2.66 GHz i7?”
Well you didn’t tell us your needs so we cannot say. But for anyone using FCP on a portable computer I always recommend the 17″ MBP the one reason you can use a esata express card with it.
[trevor ambrose] “Also, is four gigs of ram enough or should I get more.”
More never hurts.

[Brendan Kennedy] “Hey i am trying to get Final Cut HD on my computer and i did have Final cut 6 on my CPU”
Umm why? You already have a MUCH newer and better version of FCP installed why would you need an older version. Projects created with an old version can be opened in the newer version.
[Brendan Kennedy] “i was trying to get a download for Final Cut 4 HD”
Downloading ANY version of FCP would be illegal, but like I said I don’t thing you need the older version if you have the newer one.

February 14, 2011 at 5:11 pm in reply to: Import photoshop pictures without changing the format/document sizeWhy are you using a “custom” setup in FCP? Use one of the photoshop presets so that everything is set up properly.

[Faraji Mazo] “Can anyone recommend the best external monitor to hook up to my mac book pro, im using it for the purpose of color correcting on FCP .”
The “best” external monitors for color correcting cannot be connected to a MacBook Pro. They require connections not available on a MacBook Pro. They need to be connected to something like a AJA Kona Card on a Mac Pro.
