Its not really built to work that way. It will still need to function as a wireless router even if it does not connect to the internet. So basically to access anything on it you will need to switch from the wireless network you use to the network of the time capsule.

Another thing, you say your drive is firewire, that will not connect to the time capsule anyway.
Any automated backup is controlled by software on the computer, like time machine in leopard.

SnapsPro (the link in the past thread) used to be the best option out there on the mac, but now there a couple of others that I would now choose over snaps any day.

Once you find those disks, you should create a “Master Image” for each model of computer that you have. That way you can just re-image a computer if needed.

Unfortunately h264 is NOT an editing codec, and FCP does not work well with it. So if you wish to work with video from that camera in FCP you will NEED to convert it to a proper editing codec first.
If you want to not have to capture from tape, and also do not want to convert footage, I would look into a different camera.

What are your time line settings? If your are working on a low quality timeline line DV then of course it will look low quality.

Umm what is your internet issue, reinstalling the OS may not fix it if it is settings etc.

With those type of errors they some times can be repaired with disk utility (you must boor from your install disk first to run full repair) or if that cannot Disk Warrior Probably can.
A reformat of the drive will fix invalid node structures, it is a type of corruption, and usually not a failing drive (unless it reoccurs after a reformat).
What have you tried to do to fix the issue. Replacing the drive seems a bit premature at this point from what you have described.

Definitely NOT with 10.4, maybe with 10.5.
Like what was stated on another part of the thread there are some BIG differences with the intel and PPC build of the OS. In 10.4 they were completely different builds and a Intel one will NOT work on a PPC. 10.5 is supposably universal so it may work. But a clean install is always safe.

Sounds like you may be overloading the firewire bus. You may want to consider getting a firewire card for the express slot on your computer.
I always keep my hard drive & camera on a separate firewire bus to prevent dropped frames and things caused by the bus getting overloaded.
