Sounds luke you did a migration not a install from disks. When u said I’m suprised it would install that means from the disks not from a migration.
Also keep in mind that some componants of FCP do not migrate over and there for cause problems.

Yea that’s not going to work. MBPs have intel processers and only FCP 5.1 or newer is compatible with any mac intel machines.
I’m suprised that the computer even let you install v4.5.
You are going to need a newer version of FCP if you want to use your computer with final cut.

The option is there in my disk utility. What version of the OS are you running?
Keep in mind that the FAT32 format has some limitations. File transfer is much slower, there are limitations on file names, and there is also a 4GB file limit.

Could be the screen, could be the video card or it could be the cable running between the two.
If your picture is a screen capture via software or a image that is taken external from the computer and cropped?
I would say you should take make an appointment at your local apple store and let them look at it, they will be able to tell you what it is much easer because they are not diagnosing it via a web forum. they will also be able to give you a price on the repair.

Yes it does. Its just that FCE is ONLY able to use the Apple Intermediate Codec for HD video. To work with other codecs like Native HDV, and ProRes you need FCP. You can use the DVCPro HD Codec that is available to download to play DVCPro HD video but to edit it you still need FCP.
