According to my friend who works as a Genius for Apple, Apple has never released a install disk that allows for a reinstall of just Mail.

Nope just the Account settings, signatures, filters etc. It should leave the mail boxes in place. But I would make a duplicate of the preference files just in case.
Do you have a Backup of any kind that you could pull a GOOD copy of those files from.

There are 2 really easy ways to send a video to youTube.
1- If you have the new FCS3 use the publish to youTube feature that is now in Compressor.
2- Export your video out of FCP, bring into iMovie 08 or 09 and use the send to youTube feature there.
These simple ways involve no messing with settings.

There is no separate installer for Mail it only gets installed when you install the OS.

That would ONLY work if the other machine was the exact same model, and if it is the exact same model then why bother swapping drives just install it on the machine you want it on.

Unfortunately that disk will not work. Those disks were made before your model computer came out.
The OS that is installed with the new machine has many files and items specific to that model.
You could try it, but I believe you may at best get an error that the OS is not compatible with the hardware.And this explains whey using a disk made for another machine or a generic disk that was made before your machine wont work. That disk wont have the support for the newer hardware of your machine.

Yes that would technically work as long as the disks came from the exact same model machine.
The bigger issue is that you don’t have a legal license to put Leopard on those machines, the OS license that you have is for Snow Leopard.

I tried that here and still got kernel panics any time the card was connected. I did an erase and install on my system to make sure the new OS was as clean as can be and sure the drive would show up after installing the driver but it will cause kernal panics.

the incompatible software thing only comes up i believe if you fun Snow Leopard as an upgrade, not as a clean install like i did.
eSata cards that use the JMicron chip seem to be time and actually require no drivers at all as they are natively supported by the OS.
I have a JMicron chip card only issue is it only has 1 eSata port not 2 like my Griffin card that uses the now bad drivers.

Problem with migration is it ether moves all apps or no apps. And because migrating pro apps is a vary bad idea I don’t recomend doing a migration at all.
