Clean install FCP but Migr Asst for other apps?
All too aware of need for clean install but after successfully doing this can I use Migration Assistant to move the 40 or so other apps?
With clean installing on my desktop MacPro 2.66, is this the right process: insert clean drive into empty slot, install new OS and FCP, migrate other apps and files to this from existing system drive, then reboot off new drive?
What do I do then if I want to put new System drive in number one slot?
Also, existing system drive is only 250gb and is partitioned into 100gb for system, apps, word files, etc while second partitioned 150gb is for media. Any issues with cloning this?
Is there any benefit to partitioning these days? General tidiness?

Maybe for mail, safari and some of your consumer apps.
Certainly do a clean install of all your professional applications and any related plug-ins.

Problem with migration is it ether moves all apps or no apps. And because migrating pro apps is a vary bad idea I don’t recomend doing a migration at all.
There are no “technical solutions” to your “artistic problems”.
Don’t let technology get in the way of your creativity!
