ive had that problem in 6.5 it’s one of those, your computers to buys processing the renderd video to keep the time indicator moving smoothly kinda thing.
his seems a little more i dunno controled, the change in color of levels bar and the appearnace of waveforms

the only thing i can think of (and i haven’t yet fiddled with ae7) is that it’s showing you (in some way) different specs of each layer.
i think this because it shows you audio waveforms, and im guessing (because i can’t see what u did) the way it hacks up the layers are things that need rendering ie footage that has stuff done, or rendered material
now i could be completly wrong, it could be secretly killing you through hypnotism, but thats my guess.
check your timline and see if it corresponds

ok, well this is something i do often, and if their’s a fancy plugin or program, thats wicked awsome (as they say in new jersey) but im also a student which means im over budget for a project when i drink more thne half my dr pepper.
between doing this in aftereffetcs and fcp, fcp is far easier, with easier time scrolling (in my opinion) it’s much quicker, i did a 15 second 22 cut segment in my last project, i tried doing some of it in a.e. cause there were otherthing i needed to do to the footage.
id say spend some time marking things in fcp, learn your left and right arrows, or get a jog and shuttel wheel.
now allthis is my opinion, and that 15 seconds took me about 45 min to do, mind you those cuts where extremly rapid, your’s probably won’t be to bad.
mind you it’s all what you and your machine are comfortable with

oh ok i get it,because having a camera track program won;t beable to tell you where the bacground is moving in perspective, that makes sense
thanks

go to videocopilot.net and watch andrew kramer’s tutorial on old film look,
ive looped the clip of “old film” that comes with the tutorial playing it back to front (ie twice and reverse the second one) for about 45 seconds and heard no complaints, it looks amazing
hope that helps
p.s. congrats to andrew for making it to the “genius bar”

ps if your a student, check journeyED.com and see if your college participates, lots of amazing deals, i think they’re run by the mafia and knock off truck drivers hauling around computer products…either that or some company’s are just really nice

ok, well for starters, are they darker on your computer monitor or on a production monitor, fcp and a.e use there own visual settings, ive come across similer things, (not from fcp to a.e.) but from an image of a document to fcp, and in an output monitor they were identicle

ok after further research and my memor reminded me about something on lafcpug (los angeles final cut pr users group) it washow to make an aiff coverter droplet, i then opened it up and and followed the instruction and then tweeked them to fit our (your) needs. in our case, fallow teh instrucdtions but instead of selecting aiff select quicktime movie, and the there will be a settings button, and u can choose pal and then your format and whether or not it’s progressive scan (there may be another format optionbetter suited.
fallow the instructions there basicly generic after you set up what your creating. it should work and be alot easier then doing it by hand, just drag and drop, and let it be it will do all the work for you
hopefully this helps
here’s the link https://www.lafcpug.org/Tutorials/basic_droplet.html
enjoy
