Make sure your movie is shorten in the time line. I.e Begging or the end needs to be moved in. Then Hold ALT key and start dragging in the time line. You will be able to roll your movie in the time line.
I think this is what you are asking. If not let me know.

Look under the layers panel at the bottom right corner there should be three small icons one next to another, middle one looks like star. Try clicking on them and look what happens under the layer in the layer window. They are the switches for behaviors, filters, masks.

Let me know if this works

Not possible to open AE original document in Apple Motion, Yoiu have to render parts as movies and composit it in apple motion you also have to create drop zones.
I know you can open AE document in apple motion but when you do it is still a movie not a layered document as set up in AE.

    Sorry.

Please delete the preferences of Apple Motion. This usually fixes the problem.
Go to the following location: your home folder/library/preferences, then find the file called com.apple.motion.plist and delete it. (while you are doing this make sure that your motion is not running).

Restart you Motion, you should be able to see all.

If not you have to reinstall Apple Motion from original disk.

September 15, 2009 at 8:04 pm in reply to: 4870 success, so far

I have ATI Radeon HD 3870 on my 2 x 2.66hmz dual with 8GB ram. Maybe it is time to upgrade. Any motion graphics program will demand a quick processor even Apple Motion also every motion graphic program will demand lots of ram and a very good graphic card. Sort of, you can never have enough of power, what ever you do you will have to wait for things to happen (render) one way or another. Shorting the time of rendering is what we are all after. Looks like a good graphic card 4870.

No sorry. What is that you want to clone. Still or a video. if it is a still, just do it in Photoshop, if it is a video you could set the shot in another motion document, then duplicate the layer and mask it, then move the mask in the position were it need to be covering dust scratches. Do this as many times as you want then re-render the video with the same settings (codec) as original footage. This could be a lot of work as I do not know how much of cloning you need to do. I hope this helps.

Another possibility is to use dust and scratches filter (only if you want to remove dust and scratches from your footage) make sure you have applied the filter to a duplicated layer, then you need to mask what you need or don’t need. Dust and scratches is available via Boris Continuum 6 set of plugins. You have a 15 days trial (fully functional). Get it from Boris FX website.
