In case you are not familiar with time remapping.

    1. select the movie layer and hit ctrl-alt-T to apply time remap.
    2. move the time indicator to where you want the pause to start then create keyframe.
    3. from the newly placed keyframe move the time indicator forward one frame and
    create one more keyframe.
    4. now select from the third(the second keyframe you created) to the last keyframe
and move them over 2 or 3 seconds forward.
    5. then bring the time indicator to the very last keyframe and with the layer selected,
hit “O” to extend the layer to the last keyframe.

    That should do the trick

Since you are new I will explain it with a little more detail.
Select the layer that you applied the effects, then hit E key to open up effects menu
twirl down the effects and you will see the names of the effects.

Select the effect or effects you want and copy. Now select the layer you want to copy to
then paste. Or, the other great option would be that you can select the effect or effects
and drag it over to the effects palette window. This will give a window to save the effect
as a preset. Name it and save. Now, if you want to apply that preset to the other layer,
in the effects palette window, just type in the name you saved the preset under. You
should see it. Now drag it over to the new layer and done. This way, you don’t have to
copy and paste every time you want the same effect.

April 13, 2005 at 12:56 am in reply to: shatter how to start and stop

You can delay the shatter start 2-3 sec. by either animating the force field so that
it does not touch the layer for the first couple of seconds or you can split the layer
at 2-3 second mark and apply the shatter effect to the split layer that starts at 2-3
seconds. This way, you can have your sound effect, then your shatter.
    Hope this help you.

I don’t think you can auto-orient individual axis. It’s basically locked in all axis.
